Welcome to “Razor’s Edge,” a state-of-the-art modern contemporary masterpiece.  We are honored to give you a more detailed look at one of our newest and most unique properties in Paradise Valley.

Architecture and Design

Designed by C.P. Drewett and built by BedBrock Developers, this modern home ”literally floats above the desert floor, creating unique shadow lines and compelling architecture,” says Drewett. Tuscan stone and black basalt wrap the home inside and out. Travertine massing joins impressive roof overhangs from beveled edges that Drewett says ”blur the distinction between roof and walls.”  This unique home is made up of four bedrooms and a superior upper game loft, which has 360-degree views through clerestory glass.  When faced with challenges created by the lot, designer Drewett reports, “We enhanced some of the washes and made them part of the landscape —really celebrated them.” In addition, the home is situated diagonally on the lot to manage the harsh Arizona sun.  Nothing has been overlooked in the design and creation of this unique property.

The Views

The architectural masterpiece Razor’s Edge features moving glass walls and oversized windows strategically placed to frame the stunning desert topography. Through view corridors,  you will experience unobstructed views of Camelback Mountain, Phoenix Mountain Preserve, and Mummy Mountain, as well as a city lights view from the upstairs loft and patio.

The Finishing Touches

Luxurious finishes elevate the artistic exterior culminating in a masterpiece that has been recognized internationally. The Snaidero Italian kitchen features a wine cellar and Wolf Sub-Zero appliances. Custom lighting is found throughout, and Italian porcelain tile embellishes the floors and extends to outdoor spaces. The Crestron Electronics system powers the home, and professional landscaping adorns the property’s perimeter.

A Phoenix Home and Garden article suggests the most significant aspect of Drewett’s design is the bevel that appears on the edges of the white plaster panels that form the walls and roofs.  “I wanted to blur the distinction between the roof and the walls by having a carved element,’ Dewett notes; “Because of the beveled edges, the walls appear to melt into the roof.”  The white plaster is paired with travertine massing to provide contrast and anchor the structure to the site. Embodying a clean, modern sophistication, the award-winning Razor’s Edge property is an architectural triumph harmoniously blending form and function with the natural desert environment.
